Los Angeles' Scandi-cool invasion isn't over yet. After making its West Coast debut last year with its Melrose Avenue store, Ganni has landed in Danish-friendly Downtown, where its second L.A. boutique opened in late January on Broadway.
The contemporary-cool Copenhagen label took over the 1,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Tanner Goods (which shuttered in 2018), located next door to Aesop and not far from Nordic neighbors Acne Studios, which also has a shop on Melrose. Awash in the Scandi 2.0 brand's signature sherbert shades, the retro-chic haven stocks Ganni's latest womenswear collection of playful vintage-meets-modern silhouettes and prints ($85 to $1,350), such as puff-sleeved gingham blouses, effortless denim in light and dark washes, wool and cashmere sweaters, and more.
Also on offer are minimalist underpinnings, statement bags, footwear, and accessories ($25 to $925) alongside exclusives such as L.A.-inspired graphic tees, logo-happy basics, swimwear, and a limited-edition seven-piece capsule line of patchworked leather pieces. Even the decor is shoppable: #GanniGirls can also pick up ceramics and art from rising female makers and artists (like Jessica Hans, Emma Kohlmann, and Nina Nørgaard) and vintage furniture from midcentury modern design icons like Børge Mogensen.
As far as the interiors, wife-and-husband co-founders Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup decked out the walls with photography of their native city by Serbia-based Ana Kraš, while frequent collaborators Smile Plastics and Kvadrat textiles created colorful terrazzo paneling and upcycled rugs, among other sustainable design touches.
