Happy Friday! Remember when Los Angeles was almost back to "normal" and it was totally safe to congregate at our favorite indoor public spaces, except not really? For those daydreaming of an escape to anything resembling a bar or a tropical vacation (or both), allow Lost Parrot Café to help you manifest your own personal tiki hut or social distancing luau by way of a good drink.
The South Pasadena eatery teamed with the Cocktail Academy to launch the Lost Parrot Tiki Truck, a cocktail delivery service that's serving up ready-made "bar in a bag" kits ($50) to Angelenos through the end of summer. The menu features festive and fruity concoctions, such as the signature Lost Parrot Swizzle (Vida Mezcal, mint, mango, and lime), the Silky Saturn (Tanqueray Gin, falernum, lemon, passion fruit, and orgeat syrup), and the Funky Polynesian (Zacapa rum, coconut, pineapple, cream, dragon fruit, and angostura bitters).
There's also the caffeine-infused Wild Banana (Myers's rum, espresso, pineapple, créme de banana, and coconut cream), the Mai Tai-roa aé (Rhum J.M., Santa Teresa rum, Curaćao, lime, and orgeat syrup), and the Guacamaya (Cruzan Blackstrap, El Dorado, Campari, pineapple, and lime).
The DIY drink kits include four servings' worth of cocktails, two tiki tumblers, swizzle sticks, straws, crushed ice, and reusable cooler bag. You can also upgrade with add-ons like the Conch Punch Bowl ($70), a hard-to-find selection of rum, collectible tiki mugs, Hawaiian shirts and hats, and more.
Depending on your neighborhood, deliveries will arrive between 12 to 5 p.m. on Tiki Tuesday (Valley and Eastside), Fruity Friday (Culver City, Venice, and Santa Monica), or Silky Saturday (Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, or Mid-City). A 'grammable tiki van designed by artist Jonny Pucci will roll up to your abode, and you'll be notified when your goods are in transit and about to land.
Note that on-demand or same-day delivery isn't available, so be sure you place your order before midnight the day before your area's delivery day. Outside of the coverage area? You can also pick up orders at the coffee shop daily between 3 to 5 p.m.
