Westsiders have a quicker route to the Bay Area.
Celebrity-loved hop-on air carrier JSX is rolling out non-stop flights from Santa Monica (SMO) to Oakland (OAK) beginning Sept. 14. Available to book in advance now, fares start at $149 for a seat on the ATR 42-600 aircraft, which seats 30 passengers with business-class legroom. Two checked bags, in-flight cocktails and in-seat charging are also included.
The public charter service operates from private terminals at SMO and OAK and is known for its hassle-free check-in process from 20 to 30 minutes before departure. The approximately one-hour, 20-minute flights will depart three times per day during the week and up to two times on Saturdays. Last year, the company expanded its Santa Monica offerings with direct flights to Las Vegas.
Now celebrating 10 years in business, JSX is known for its seamless and affordable hop-on, hop-off air travel out of LAX, Burbank (BUR), Santa Monica and throughout California, including from private terminals in Carlsbad (CLD), Concord/East Bay (CCR), Monterey/Carmel (MRY), Napa (APC), Orange County (SNA) and Oakland/San Francisco (OAK). JSX's destinations to and from Southern California include Reno/Tahoe, Nev.; Taos, New Mex.; Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.; Denver; Salt Lake City; Dallas-Love Field; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, depending on the airport.
The company has been named Five Star Regional Airline by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) six consecutive times. DJ Steve Aoki (who we've spotted jet-setting to and from his Las Vegas residency), Kathy Hilton and Jeremy Renner are among the stars who have been seen hopping on and off JSX.
"Our Customers tell us they want less friction and more speed when they travel within California," JSX CEO Alex Wilcox says in a statement. "This new service between Santa Monica and Oakland is truly California's high-speed plane. From door-to-door, there's no faster, more convenient way to go from the west side of Los Angeles to the North Bay than with JSX."
