It's next to impossible to avoid FOMO when everyone in your crew is headed to that exorbitantly expensive desert fest this weekend. Enter Broke LA, our city's coolest independent alternative to, well, spending a ton of money to hear music in face-melting heat. (Totally cool if that's your thing, too.) Happening Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, the local music and arts festival will showcase LA's rising talents — and it'll all cost less than your roundtrip Lyft ride to Coachella.

Now in its 8th year, the two-day fest takes over DTLA's Regent Theater, where over 50 musical artists and 60 comedians will take the stage — four of 'em, to be exact. Think Tank Gallery will curate art installations, while foodies will enjoy plenty of mouth-watering grub and drinks. There'll be retail therapy, too: The Broke Market promises fest merch alongside clothing, art, accessories, and more from local designers and makers. In addition to photo booths and yoga and wellness activities, the event also promises Ray Mart, an immersive "alien Korean convenience store" (translation: have your camera ready).

Entry is only $15 a day or $25 for a weekend pass, but that's not the best part: Temps will be 78 degrees max that weekend. Dig it? Check out the full flyer below and buy tickets in advance online here.
