Eco-minded label lovers in Orange County now have a new spot for pre-loved designer pieces. After opening its Melrose flagship a few years back, TheRealReal has debuted its second SoCal designer consignment boutique at Lido Marina Village in Newport Beach.
'60s and '70s California modern aesthetic inspired our Newport Beach store design and you'll see that thread throughout the space, from the Andrew Bush vintage prints capturing SoCal road trips to the neutral and earth-toned custom color palette to the selection of hand-painted vintage ceramics. Each element is hand-selected by our team specifically for our Newport Beach shopper."
Just like TRR's 13 other locations (including five in California), everything is for sale at the 1,100-square-foot space — including the art and furniture. The interiors are inspired by the Golden State in the 1960s and '70s, as seen in the road trip scenes of Andrew Bush on the walls and the hand-painted vintage ceramics.
As far as the inventory, expect to shop women's and men's ready-to-wear, bags, footwear, fine jewelry and watches, home goods, and art, much of which you can buy online and pick up in-store the same day. (Take a peek at the shop's lineup of luxe carryalls, for instance.)
The seaside shop will be heavy on statement dresses and timeless accessories — think Gucci dresses and bold-hued Hermès Kelly bags, says Head of Women's Merchandising Sasha Skoda in a statement. "While our L.A. shopper leans more toward emerging brands, our Newport Beach shopper embraces refined sensibility leaning heavily toward more classic styles and logo-centric luxury brands like Gucci, Burberry, and Chanel."
Head of Men's Merchandising Mayank Hajela adds that the store will also lean towards laid-back luxury looks and gender-free streetwear silhouettes.
Luxury fashion houses such as Burberry, Brunello Cucinelli, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Thom Browne, and much more are well represented, as are accoutrements and timepieces from the likes of Cartier, Rolex, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels, and others. Sneakerheads and streetwear aficionados will also find a happy place, thanks to kicks from Yeezy, Dior x Nike Air Jordan, Off-White, and more.
The store also houses complimentary valuations of fine jewelry, bags, and watches by TRR's expert gemologists and horologists; in-person appointments and curbside drop-offs for consignments; and full-service cleaning, repair, and alteration services.
Got merch to sell? Consignors will score a sustainable TS Designs face mask made from upcycled tees (while supplies last), and you'll also get a $100 credit when you consign during February.
"Since opening our West Hollywood retail location, we saw a significant opportunity to expand our Southern California presence," says TRR Vice President of Retail Courtney Hawkins in a statement. "Having a store here in Newport Beach will make it even more convenient for our local community to engage with us, whether they're stopping in to shop, meet with our experts, drop off consignment or bring in items for repair. What's more, Lido Marina Village is a well-trafficked shopping and dining destination that will only help increase our local awareness."
Hawkins adds that the company plans on opening 10 more stores this year; it recently bowed a boutique in Brooklyn. The Lido Marina Village marks the retailer's 13th location in the U.S.
